Città di Castello:
Festival of the Nations - last week in August through
the first week of September
The Festival of the Nations began in Città di Castello in 1968
with the purpose of emphasizing the artists from the Upper Tiber Valley.
Its purpose is to present the culture, musical tastes and to take up
a quality position amongst the high level cultural events in Italy and
Europe.
Since the beginning the cultural axis of the festival was made to present
to the public the best of local music in natural and architectural settings
of particular beauty.

Gastronomic Events
Città di Castello:
Truffle and forest products Show – November 4-6
The show is held in the historical center in tents. Emphasizing the
white truffle (Tuber Magnatum Pico) a valuable and prized species that
is found in abundance in the country of the Upper Tiber Valley. In the
numerous booths you will find not only truffles but also other products
from the forest such as mushrooms, chestnuts, honey, jams made with
wild fruit, oil, wine and cheese.

Folklore Events
Città di Castello: Palio
of the goose - October – The reenactment in costume suggests
in the ring of the historical center of Mattonata of an old popular
parody of chivalrous games.
Montone: “Donazione
della Santa Spina” August 12-19 2009- Historical reenactment
that is celebrated the Monday after Easter and in August. It is carried
out with rigorous historical accuracy allowing the spectators to view
a large spectacle with period costumes representing the competitions
amongst the neighborhoods: Porta del Borgo, Porta del Monte and Porta
del Verziere.

Sansepolcro: Crossbow Competition
- Second Sunday in September
In the spectacular setting of the Torre di Berta Square surrounded by
Renaissance palaces. The historic competition takes place amongst shooters
from Sansepolcro and Gubbio. According to the ancient tradition in the
morning the herald reads the announcement of the official challenge
to the rivals from Gubbio.
Other Events
Città di Castello:
National Equestrian Show - September 9-11
One of the most important Equestrian shows in Italy. It offers a vast
program of events.
Jumping and obstacles, Western and English style competions, Free jumping
competitions, horseshoeing competitions, and “Ippofestival”.
An exhibition of equestrian performance where breeders and trainers
of horses of every breed can participate. Also inside the show there
is the Salon of Gear set up to promote as well as the Salon of the Agriturismo
and the typical products to offer riders and enthusiasts a complete
picture of the principal aspects of the world of horses; breeding, commercial,
and spectator.
